Capital Region Amphitheater Rules

The Capital Region Amphitheater has a few requirements for visitors to note. These rules (and how well-educated you are about them) will have implications for your own experiences at the venue.

Obviously, you don’t want to waste time travelling to the amphitheater for a show only to realize that the show has been canceled. And it wouldn’t be ideal if you accidentally took along items that are prohibited at the amphitheater.

To minimize the risk of any delays or hassle, here are some of the Capital Region MU Health Care Amphitheater’s most important rules and policies…

Weather policies

The amphitheater might be an outdoor venue, but don’t expect shows to be canceled at the first sight of rain. In fact, the official line is that all shows happen “rain or shine” – though there are some exceptions…

If the local weather report predicts inclement weather, the event organizer will decide whether the show goes ahead or is instead postponed or canceled.

What if inclement weather arises during the event? Given that Jefferson City, MO routinely sees a wide range of weather conditions, there might not be much action taken. For example, if rain starts falling heavily, staff might discern that it poses no danger to patrons or themselves.

In contrast, if winds exceed 30mph in speed, staff will pause the event. They will only allow it to resume once the wind speeds have fallen back under 30mph.

Staff use various means of tracking the weather during events. They will pause the event if apps or licensed programs confirm lightning to have struck within ten miles of the stage during the show.

When a lightning storm is raging, patrons will be directed to areas where they can safely shelter. Once 30 minutes have passed without confirmation of any further lightning strike, the show will be allowed to resume.

Prohibited items

If heavy rain does break out at a CRMU Amphitheater event, getting out an umbrella will not be an option. That’s because umbrellas are prohibited at this venue. In contrast, ponchos are permitted, so it’s recommended to bring one with you.

It’s also worth familiarizing yourself with what else you are (and aren’t) allowed to take with you into the amphitheater. The bags on the ‘allowed’ list include:

  • » Clear purses/bags smaller than 12” x 12” x 6”
  • » Small clutch purses no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”
  • » Diaper bags and medical bags (but both are subject to search)

As for what types of bags are not permitted, they include:

  • » Large bags
  • » Suitcases
  • » Backpacks
  • » Camera cases
  • » Cinch bags
  • » Tinted or printed pattern plastic bags
  • » Fanny packs
  • » Oversized tote bags
  • » Sealed packages

The CRMU Amphitheater website has an even lengthier list of prohibited items. Here are just a few examples selected from that list:

  • » Airhorns, noisemakers, or whistles
  • » Balloons, beach balls, and other inflatable items
  • » Drones or other model aircraft
  • » Fireworks or explosives
  • » Laser pointers, laser products, or flashlights
  • » Selfie sticks
  • » Space heaters

You are also banned from bringing in food and beverages bought outside the venue. Fortunately, there will be places to buy food and drink in the venue, like local food trucks.

Accessibility

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires establishments such as theaters to ensure that they adequately cater for people with disabilities. In line with this federal civil rights law, the amphitheater has been fitted out with accessible seats.

If you have issues that impair your mobility, you might rely on what the ADA defines as a Service Animal. If this is the case, rest assured that Capital Region MU Health Care Amphitheater will permit you to bring this Service Animal to shows.

You can also turn to wheelchair escorts here. You can arrange this assistance by contacting the administration office before you arrive or a guest service representative when you arrive.
